What SMTOWN &STORE is and why fans shop there

SMTOWN &STORE is SM Entertainment's first-party shop. It covers the whole roster: NCT and its units, aespa, RIIZE, Red Velvet, SHINee, EXO, TVXQ!, Super Junior, Girls' Generation and newer groups. When SM launched the online store it described it as a global platform in four languages, and that is still how it is organized: one Korean store and separate English, Japanese and Chinese storefronts.

The range is wider than albums. Alongside music you will find official fanlights, concert goods, artist-themed jewelry in 925 silver, apparel, and lifestyle items. The store's FAQ even has care instructions for silver rings and a Korean ring-size chart, which tells you how much non-album merchandise moves through it.

There is a physical side too. SM runs KWANGYA stores in Seoul and in Jakarta, and some goods appear at those stores or at pop-ups first and online later.

For collectors, the reason to care is simple: this is the source. Limited fanlight versions, anniversary photocard sets and Season's Greetings are sold here before they reach general retailers, and many are marked sold out on the home page at any given time.

Can you buy from SMTOWN &STORE directly from overseas?

From the English site, yes, with three limits.

First, destinations. The English site's shipping guide says it delivers worldwide except Korea, Japan and Mainland China. If you live in Japan or mainland China, the English site is not your route.

Second, timing. Orders ship within 5–10 business days after payment. Albums and pre-orders ship 5–10 business days after the stock arrives, so a pre-order can take noticeably longer than an in-stock item.

Third, returns and taxes. Prices on the English site do not include customs duties, and the store says it is not responsible if a recipient refuses or fails to pay them. Change-of-mind returns are not accepted. Only defective or wrongly shipped items can be returned, within 30 days, and opened CDs, DVDs and books are excluded.

Payment on the English site is straightforward: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB or PayPal. The store notes that your card company may call to verify a large payment. New members get a $2 welcome coupon that is valid for 30 days and needs a purchase of $20 or more.

From the Korean site, it depends on where the parcel goes. The Korean store charges in won, delivers by CJ Logistics inside Korea, and lists credit card and real-time bank transfer as payment methods. The sign-up page asks for one of three verifications: a Korean mobile phone in your own name, i-PIN (아이핀, a Korean online ID number), or an email verification link sent after you register. It also has a nationality and address step for overseas residents, so the account itself is within reach by email. What we could not confirm is whether a foreign-issued card is accepted at checkout, so do not assume your card will work.

When you do not need an agent: you live somewhere the English site ships, the item is listed there, and you are fine with no change-of-mind returns. Order direct.

Direct suits a single order of items that are on the English site. Forwarding suits people who can already pay on the Korean site and want their own account on the order. A purchasing agent suits readers in Japan or mainland China, people whose item is listed only on the Korean site, and people who want SM goods in the same box as orders from other Korean shops.

Step by step: ordering from the Korean store with HaulKorea

1. Find the item on smtownandstore.com. Use the Korean site, not the en. address, so the price is in won.
2. Copy the product link from the address bar. 3.**
3. Select options. Album version, member, ring or apparel size, quantity.
4. Choose your country and review one total. International shipping is already inside it. For the United States, duties are too.
5. Pay once by PayPal. No second payment follows. If the weighed parcel is lighter than estimated, the shipping difference comes back to you.
6. HaulKorea places the order and receives it at the Korean warehouse. Because the Korean store ships free above ₩50,000, combining items into one order often removes the ₩3,000 fee.
7. Check your inspection photos, then the parcel ships with tracking. You can also hold it and combine it with later orders.

What to buy at SMTOWN &STORE

• Official fanlights (₩42,000–₩47,000). Each group's light stick, including new versions released around tours. The store repairs manufacturing defects within 90 days of purchase, which is a reason to buy the real one here.
• Albums (from about ₩15,600). Standard photobook versions, smaller formats and member versions. The store's notice says all of its album sales are reflected on Circle and Hanteo. Sales data goes to Hanteo automatically on the hour once an order has shipped, and an order with several copies is counted by the actual quantity.
• Season's Greetings. Annual calendar-and-diary sets for each group, sold by pre-order. The store's notice board groups Season's Greetings and chart guidance together because the pre-order season generates the most questions.
• Concert and fan-meeting goods. Slogans, photocard packs and apparel tied to a specific show.
• Artist jewelry. 925 silver rings and necklaces. Rings follow Korean sizes, so use the chart in the FAQ.
• CDP-version albums. Some releases come as a working CD player package. The aespa "Armageddon" CDP version, for example, takes a 3-pole audio jack and needs a 5V adapter that is not in the box.
• Photocard and anniversary sets. Small, light, and frequently sold out.

Things that go wrong, and how to avoid them

"Sold out" on arrival. A large share of popular goods on the home page show as sold out. Restocks are announced on the notice board, not predictable. If an item is sold out when HaulKorea goes to buy it, the order cannot be placed and you are refunded under the refund policy.

Pre-order arrival delays. The notice board regularly carries delay notices for pre-order goods, along with changes to manufacturing dates or photocard designs. Build slack into your plans, especially for gifts.

Address locks. Once an order reaches the "배송준비완료" (baesong junbi wallyo, ready to ship) status, the store does not allow address changes. This matters if you use a forwarding address and mistype it.

Holiday backlogs. Korean couriers pause around Lunar New Year and Chuseok, and the store posts delay notices each time. Orders placed just before those holidays wait.

Bulk orders. The store has a bulk-order channel, but it delivers to Korean addresses only and minimum quantities vary by item. If you are organizing a group order, tell us the quantity before you request a quote.

Membership-only items and event entries. The notice board includes membership-exclusive sales. Anything that checks a fan-club membership or enters a raffle under the buyer's name is tied to a personal account. An agent's order would not carry your membership or your name. Ask us before you order.

Electronics and batteries. Fanlights and CDP albums are electronic goods.

Returns, sizing and customs

On the Korean site, a change-of-mind return is allowed within 7 days of receipt, with ₩6,000 round-trip shipping at the buyer's cost. Defective or misdescribed goods can be returned within 3 months. Returns are refused when the window has passed, when the buyer damaged the item, or when the packaging of a copyable product such as a CD or DVD has been opened.

With a purchasing agent, the 7-day clock runs while the item is in Korea. That is why inspection photos matter: a wrong version or a damaged box can be raised with the store before export. Once the parcel has left Korea, a store return is no longer realistic.

Ring sizes are Korean standard and the FAQ gives a tolerance for handmade pieces. Apparel pages list measurements in centimeters. Silver discolors with air and sulfur exposure, which the store treats as normal wear, not a defect.

Customs rules vary by country. The English site states that duties are not included in its prices. With HaulKorea, orders to the United States have duties included in the total you pay. For other countries, duties are not included and the recipient pays them.
