What is Daiso Korea and why do shoppers want it?

Daiso is Korea's fixed-price variety store. Every product carries one of six prices: ₩500, ₩1,000, ₩1,500, ₩2,000, ₩3,000, or ₩5,000. Nothing in the store costs more than ₩5,000. The chain had about 1,500 stores as of 2023 and stocks roughly 30,000 different products.

It is not the same company as Daiso in Japan. Korean Daiso is run by Asung Daiso, a Korean firm. In December 2023 its parent bought out the 34.21% stake that Japan's Daiso Sangyo had held, making it fully Korean-owned. The product range is developed separately, which is why items seen in Korean videos do not show up at a Daiso in Tokyo, Sydney, or Los Angeles.

What changed Daiso's reputation abroad is beauty. Established Korean cosmetics companies began making small-size lines exclusively for Daiso, all inside the ₩5,000 ceiling. By the first half of 2024 the store carried about 310 products from 42 beauty brands, and sales of its skincare and color cosmetics had more than tripled year over year.

Those exclusive lines are the point. A Daiso-only product is not sold at Olive Young or on a brand's own site. If you want it, Daiso is the only source.

Can you buy from Daiso Mall directly from overseas?

No. Daiso's FAQ is unusually direct about it.

Shipping. The help center states that an overseas delivery service is not provided. There is no English site and no international checkout.

Account. Joining requires 본인인증 (bon-in injeung, identity verification). The FAQ spells out who qualifies: a person of Korean nationality who can verify their real name with a mobile phone in their own name, a digital certificate, or an i-PIN. It offers no route for foreign nationals. Daiso also notes that members under 14 need a guardian's consent.

Payment. The listed methods are credit and debit cards, wallet apps (Naver Pay, Kakao Pay, Toss Pay, PAYCO, Samsung Pay, Apple Pay, Hana Pay), real-time bank transfer, virtual accounts, and gift vouchers. We found no statement about overseas-issued cards, so we cannot tell you they work.

No global version. Unlike some Korean retailers, Daiso Korea has no separate store for international customers. If you see "Daiso" shipping to your country, check which company it is. It is most likely the Japanese chain with a different catalog.

Direct is simply closed to overseas buyers.

What it costs: the shipping math matters more than the price tags

Daiso's own fees are easy. Parcel delivery is ₩3,000, and it is free once the order reaches ₩30,000. Jeju and remote islands cost extra, which does not affect an order going to a warehouse on the mainland (as of October 2026).

Notice the proportions. The delivery fee is the same as Daiso's second-highest price point. An order of three ₩1,000 items would double in cost before it even leaves Korea. Thirty thousand won sounds low, but at these prices it means 10 to 30 items.

International shipping then changes the picture again. It is charged by weight and box size, and Daiso products are cheap for their bulk. A ₩2,000 storage bin or a ₩1,000 ceramic bowl can cost several times its price to fly across an ocean. Small, light, high-interest items make sense. Large plastic goods rarely do.

• Daiso-exclusive lines from major brands. Sub-brands made for Daiso by established cosmetics companies, typically ₩3,000 to ₩5,000. They exist nowhere else.
• Makeup tools. Puffs, brushes, silicone spatulas, and sponges at ₩1,000 to ₩3,000. Light, unbreakable, and easy to ship.
• Stationery and stickers. Notebooks, deco stickers, and pens from ₩500 to ₩2,000. Flat and light.
• Travel and organizing items. Pouches, refill bottles, and cable organizers at ₩1,000 to ₩3,000.
• Seasonal collections. Daiso releases themed lines for spring blossoms, Christmas, and other seasons. They do not come back once they sell through.

For Daiso Mall orders, cancellations and returns are requested from the order page, and refunds take 3 to 5 business days for cards or 3 to 7 for bank transfers. Items with tags or wrapping removed are not accepted.

None of that reaches across a border. With a ₩2,000 item, return postage to Korea costs many times the product.
